Art, People, and Nature – an unconventional Encounter
The Open-Air Exhibition at the shores of Schlachtensee and Krumme Lanke is Klára Némethy’s hommage to the woods and lakes of Berlin. It is the painter’s intention to set an unconventional stage in which to encounter both art and nature. The natural balance between people, art, and nature is maintained through the limited number of the exhibits. This lakeside gallery shows 8 weatherproofed reproductions of Némethy’s oil-paintings: 5 paintings at Schlachtensee and 3 at Krumme Lanke.
This unusual framework for sharing contemporary art stimulates the observer to respond instantaneously. The pictures function as a medium between the promenaders and their immediate environment, attracting and inevitably encouraging them to discuss art and nature. Whether they be passersby with coffee-to-go cups or walking sticks, runners, cyclists, or hikers, this is a nature and art experience for all to take home.
There is a school project connected to the exhibition: elementary and secondary school classes are invited to visit the open-air exhibition, make observations, and draw their own sketches of natural scenes. Follow-up artwork can be continued in the classroom. The art history aspect of such a nature-and-art project can be completed with a visit to the Bröhan-Museum or the Nationalgalerie to see the paintings of Walter Leistikow (1865-1908), the most significant landscape painter of the woods and lakes of Brandenburg, and to learn more about the art history of the Grunewald landscapes.
More than a hundred years lie between the work of Walter Leistikow and Némethy’s paintings. Still, there are certain recurring elements to be found, such as the uniquely fever-red hue of the trunks of the pines in the evening sunlight along the shores of Schlachtensee, but now in a new form of visual expression.

Kunst, Mensch und Natur – eine unkonventionelle Art der Begegnung
Die Open-Air Ausstellung am Schlachtensee und an der Krummen Lanke ist eine Hommage der Malerin Klára Némethy an die Berliner Wälder und Seen. Ihre Absicht ist es, ein Zeichen zu setzen, indem man Kunst und Natur in einer ungewohnten Verbindung erleben kann. Durch eine sehr reduzierte Bilderzahl – 8 wetterfesten Reprofotografien von Ölgemälden von Némethy – wird das natürliche Gleichgewicht zwischen Mensch, Kunst und Natur erhalten.
Diese „Galerie im Grünen“ zeigt 5 Bilder am Seeufer des Schlachtensees und 3 an der Krummen Lanke. Durch diese unkonventionelle Art, zeitgenössische Kunst auszustellen, werden die Betrachter zu einer unmittelbaren Stellungnahme bewegt. Die Bilder funktionieren wie ein Medium zwischen den Besuchern und der Umwelt und wollen die Spaziergänger anziehen und zum Austausch über Kunst und Natur motivieren. Egal, ob man mit Coffee-to-Go Becher, Fahrrad, Laufschuhe oder Gehstock unterwegs ist, dieses Natur- und Kunsterlebnis kann man einfach mit nach Hause nehmen.
Die Ausstellung ist mit einem Kunst- und Lernprojekt für Grundschulen und Gymnasien verknüpft. Das Thema lässt sich auf einer kunsthistorischen Ebene vor allem auch auf die Werke von Walter Leistikow zu den Grunewaldseen beziehen. Die kunstpädagogische Arbeit besteht aus einem Ausstellungsbesuch und einer Malstunde am See sowie einem Besuch der Grunewaldsee-Bilder im Bröhan-Museum oder in der Nationalgalerie.
Mehr als hundert Jahre liegen zwischen Walter Leistikow (1865-1908), dem bedeutungsvollsten Maler der märkischen Wald- und Seelandschaft und der Entstehung der Bilder von Némethy. Trotzdem lassen sich Elemente wie z.B. das einmalige fieberrote Lichtspiel auf den Kieferstämmen des Schlachtensee-Ufers auffinden, nur in einer ganz neuen Formsprache.
Die 1966 in Ungarn geborene Malerin Klára Némethy lebt in ihrer Wahlheimat Berlin am Schlachtensee. Sie arbeitet als freischaffende Künstlerin und übersetzt ihre Stimmungen und Gedanken in die Sprache der Öl- und Pastellmalerei. Diese Momentaufnahmen der menschlichen Psyche stellen ein besonderes, in einer unsichtbaren Symbiose entstehendes Wechselspiel zwischen Mensch und Außenwelt in den Mittelpunkt. Ihre Bilder sind Resultate eines kontinuierlichen Dialoges zwischen dem Inneren und dem Äußeren der Existenz.
Die Ausstellung wird aus Sondermitteln der BVV Steglitz-Zehlendorf gefördert und durch das Kulturamt, die Berliner Forsten und private Sponsoren unterstützt.
