Born in Hungary, Klára Némethy (*1966) is a freelance artist and curator based in Berlin. After studying International Marketing and Linguistics, she completed a certificate in Curating at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).
Némethy explores the parallels and controversies of the invisible symbiosis between man, city, and nature. Her most recent works are the result of an artistic exploration of the inexorable transformation of nature and human existence. Her paintings characteristically feature solitary female figures, serving as emblematic expressions of women's vulnerability, fragility, and poetic lightness.
Her oeuvre includes oil paintings, drawings, watercolors, and installations. Since 2016, she has been developing innovative exhibition formats that enable art to be experienced in public and pop-up spaces in new and natural ways.
She counts David Hockney, Kiki Smith, Anselm Kiefer and Leiko Ikemura among the artists who have influenced her the most. In Budapest, the Hungarian painter Mihály Schéner, a friend of hers, had a significant influence on her with his expressive painterly world and autonomous colourism.
